Preface
This sixth edition of the respected text on construction project management provides irrefutable evidence. The aim is to preserve the flavor and quality of the old book while removing some details and updating the content. New tools that introduce the rapidly changing topics of construction project management have enriched the content. Each unit also incorporates new teaching materials to enhance its educational value. The construction industry selects a new project number for inclusion. Finally, this book leverages technological advancements by incorporating a companion website, which adds material either at the end of the book or in the form of large figures to previous books.
Some details (such as detailed simulations) and some older content, such as a description of the arrow diagram method for critical path representations, have been greatly reduced or removed. We increased the distribution of other articles and added new ones. View the overview table that provides values for recurring, extended projects. We have incorporated an introduction to Building Information Modeling (BIM) and the associated contract project delivery basis (IPD). The book now includes a chapter and several others that delve into the fundamentals of low-rise construction.
Each chapter includes an introductory study section with a bulleted list of learning objectives to support the book’s use in the learning environment. Each chapter concludes with a summary of key points and a set of review questions and answers. We have prepared a PowerPoint presentation for each section to facilitate the course’s implementation. We expect these educational additions to enhance the textbook’s learning experience.
The acquisition of the sixth series marked the introduction of a new model project, a commercial building. We reworked the bridge example and, in many cases, aligned it with the discussed points, demonstrating both the level of construction and the heavy state institutions involved.
A computer software and consulting technology company built the single-story building in 2006–2007. Project managers, contractors, and owners provided the authors with free design and construction information for this book. There is also a picture of the building on the cover of the book.
A building is inherently more complex than a bridge. While several drawings clearly identify the bridge’s structure and ground, the building not only encompasses these elements but also incorporates a shell that conceals certain elements and allows for control. environment within. All surfaces of buildings, including floors, walls, and ceilings, require polishing. Buildings with openings require doors, windows, and related materials.
Architectural features such as grinding and casting are typically present. In addition, the building incorporates a variety of systems, including machinery, pumps, fire safety, electrical and low-voltage safety, and communication networks.
In addition to Bbusinessgraphics, this partner’s website offers numerous other useful features. On the website, you’ll find figures large enough to cover difficult content from the previous edition. This document references these tables to differentiate them from textual figures. It is available digitally on an accompanying website, in line with the industry’s trend away from paper. The supplement website also retains important supplemental materials from previous publications. Finally, you can find the instructor-only password on the website, as well as the answer key located at the end of the questions and problems in both the overview and the PowerPoint.
A new team of authors has taken on the responsibility of preparing this sixth edition of Construction Project Management. Gerard L. Ronde and Robert O. Segner, Jr. They are proud to have been selected to continue the project management excellence initiated by Richard H. Clough and continued through the many reforms carried out by Glenn A. Sears and, more recently, S. Keoki Sears.
