preface
The Caribbean Place of Education Examination (CAPE) is designed to certify the academic, vocational and technical achievements of Caribbean students by: people have completed at least five years of secondary education and want to continue their education. Exams express the knowledge and skills that students acquire in a simple and understandable system, with courses organized as 1-part or 2-part courses, where each part contains three modules. Subjects evaluated within the scope of CAPE can be studied simultaneously or separately. The Caribbean Examinations Council offers three types of qualifications at CAPE level. First, a certificate is issued for each CAPE section completed. The second is the CAPE diploma, which is given to candidates who successfully complete at least six units, including Caribbean Studies. The third is the CXC Certificate, awarded for successful completion of a sequence of eight CAPE units, including Caribbean Studies, Communication Studies and Mathematics. Integrated Mathematics is not a requirement for the CXC Certificate in Mathematics. You can find a complete list of Associate Degrees in the CXC Associate Degree Handbook. For the CAPE and CXC Associate Degrees, candidates are required to complete a combination of required units within five years. To be eligible for the CXC Associate Degree, the educational institution that determines candidates receiving the award must select the Associate Degree to select the period of enrollment in the seat (years) for which candidates are expected to receive the award. Candidates who do not register will not be given a class certificate.
