Preface
This book presents topics related to the analysis and design of reinforced concrete elements. The focus is on design elements in reinforced concrete buildings where the main elements are structural steel or stainless steel.
Structural steels under reinforced concrete structures and structural design of current legislation are essential for the correct and economical design of structural steel structures. The purpose of this book is to present and explain in a simple and easy to understand way: (1) the basic principles of physical design . Portions of these documents (especially those in the ACI Construction Guide) are frequently referenced and it is assumed that the reader will refer to them when using this guide. Before examining the provisions of Regulation, an understanding of the properties of reinforced concrete components and basic knowledge of the mechanics of concrete structures should be obtained. The design and interpretation of regulation provisions change frequently, and it is important to understand the basic elements of reinforced concrete design in order to use these provisions effectively in practice. It is given in Chapters. Figure 1 is an overview of reinforced concrete and a basic overview of concrete mechanics. Community members are highlighted and the important role they play within the home is discussed. The main purpose of this discussion is twofold: (1) to introduce the types of materials discussed in the following sections and (2) to show how all parts of the structure are assembled. A brief summary of construction materials and the most important events in concrete house construction are also given. The aim here is to inform the reader about the important points he encounters during a construction project.
Concrete and reinforced concrete mechanical properties are summarized in Chapter 2. 2. Basic information on corrosion and damage mechanisms is presented and an idea is given about the strengths and weaknesses of concrete. This chapter also covers (1) methods for comparing concrete mixtures, (2) durability requirements, and (3) evaluation and acceptance.
General information to be used in the analysis and design of any concrete structure can be found in Chapter 2. 3. It includes the loads that should be taken into account in the design and analysis of construction activities. Analytical methods and time allocation are also described.
Chapter 4 contains the general requirements that must be met to exercise authority and service. These requirements form the basis of the design of all reinforced concrete members. The concepts of strength analysis methods, including strength requirements and design strength, are introduced. General principles of operational control are considered, as are load factors, load distribution and load reduction.
General principles and requirements for dynamic design are given in Chapter 2. 5. A schematic diagram of this method and basic techniques for determining the nominal strength of a reinforced section subjected to bending, axial loading, or a combination of both are included in detail. It is important to fully understand the material presented in this chapter before moving on to the following sections.
Chapters 6 through 10 contain diagrams and details of the following reinforced concrete members: (1) unidirectional beams and slabs, (2) double slabs, (3) columns, (4) walls, and (5) foundation. Each chapter includes techniques for measuring sections, calculating the amount of reinforcement needed, and details. Diagrams and flowcharts provide a roadmap that guides the reader through code requirements. It also includes design tools and complete examples designed to simplify and illustrate the implementation of these plans. The examples follow step-by-step design methods and flowcharts and are created using structural elements found in typical buildings. These examples help the reader understand how members interact with each other and how loads are transferred throughout the structure.
In all discussions and examples, concrete elements of design are heavily emphasized. This background information is presented to inform the reader about important aspects of research (other than theoretical) that need to be taken into account in daily practice. Emphasis has been placed on the size of the members based on the assumptions made and it is not possible to emphasize in detail in this section.
The content of this book is intended for undergraduate and graduate students as well as applied exercise scientists who need to become familiar with current requirements or update their designs. Engineers preparing for the licensing exam will also find the materials presented here useful.
